so i am still really upset about losing jackson, but can we just talk about FLASHBACKS?!

THIS IS EVERYTHING I HAVE WANTED.

from the beginning i have been aching for flashbacks of any kind, but hale/mama stilinski especially, and the small bit we got of the fire was just not enough. it was awesome to be sure, but one of the reasons i was so immediately interested and invested in the young!peter hale storyline was because of my desire for flashbacks. for more.

the past shapes everything, whether people care to admit it or not. it’s a huge contributing factor in what makes people who they are and so i’ve always been chomping at the bit for any scrap of background on our already incredibly developed characters, and have been obliged on many occasions thanks to the writers through conversations, etc. but you just can’t get around the intensity of a visual explanation. i mean it’s incredibly moving when stiles or his dad mention his mama, but to see a fragment of a memory in which he sits by her side and holds her hand in the hospital, or creeps at the top of the stairs listening to his parents talk about how “they’re going to beat this together-that things will turn out okay” in the next room? that is priceless in it’s impact.

so yes, i’m still really bummed about jackson’s departure from the show at what i think we can all agree would have been a pivotal point in his life, but gaining the knowledge that we’re going to get more explanation into how the packs work, what kind of example derek had growing up, and who he was before his life went up in smoke certainly helps to make up for it. because sure i can surmise and have ideas and personal headcanons about all that, but to actually get to see some of it??
